Project | The Tribe Project |
---|---|
Description |
The Tribe Project is a co-production driven, social action initiative to upskill members of the community within areas of care inequality to become micro-commissionable community carers. Through combining the latest advances in machine learning and smart cities technologies, Tribe geospatially maps patterns in community ‘need’ ultimately predicting where service demand will intersect with areas where care provision is failing or none existent. Working within these areas Tribe supports the digital upskilling of voluntary organisations, community groups and people seeking to start their own care micro-enterprises. Tribe directly results in skilled employment for local people in areas of care inequality. |

Ceryx Medical Ltd
Project | Adaptive Neuronal Pacer for Heart Failure Treatment |
---|---|
Description |
Ceryx is developing a novel implantable bioelectronics therapeutic device targeting Heart Failure (HF). The technology will arrest, or reverse, HF pathology using a novel technique of modulating heart functions in line with respiration thereby improving efficiency and performance. The final device will resemble a standard pacemaker or cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) device and, as such, implantation could be performed under local anaesthetic with a short hospital stay. Such a routine, low-risk and inexpensive procedure opens the possibility of Ceryx's device being used extensively to treat even early stage HF. The technology will offer an effective alternative to pharmacotherapies, which are limited, largely ineffective and expensive. |

Invitron Ltd
Project | Point of Care test for diagnosis of heart failure in primary care |
---|---|
Description |
Invitron is developing a portable device that will perform rapid, accurate diagnostic tests using just a small finger prick of blood. The device is based on a next generation chemiluminescence technology that will deliver laboratory quality results at the point of care. In this project we are developing a test that measures the biomarker B-type natriuretic peptide, a blood protein which is elevated in patients with heart failure (HF) and which can provide a definitive diagnosis of HF. This will enable HF to be identified directly in GP practices, reducing the time to diagnosis from several days to just a few minutes. This will in turn facilitate earlier treatment where necessary and rapidly rule out patients without HF. |
